UGC NET Exam Pattern

The UGC NET exam for English Subject is conducted in two papers, held together in a single session.

Paper I focuses on Teaching and Research Aptitude, consisting of 50 multiple-choice questions carrying 100 marks. This paper is common for all candidates and evaluates general reasoning, comprehension, teaching aptitude, and research skills.

Paper II is subject-specific and covers the core concepts of English Literature. It includes 100 objective-type questions, carrying a total of 200 marks.

The total duration of the exam is 3 hours, and it is conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.
